FAQ

Frequent Asked Questions

Do you ship artwork?

Yes! Currently Fine Art By Janna ships anywhere in the United States.

Do you take commissions for custom artwork?

Yes! I offer custom portraits of people, custom wildlife portraits and custom pet portraits. Commissions may close if orders are booked up for the time being, but will reopen as soon as I’m all caught up. Send me an email at [email protected] to discuss a custom project!

How long does a custom portrait take?

Custom portraits usually take a week or less to complete. Once complete, allow about 5 business days for shipping via USPS.

What shipping methods do you use?

Artwork is shipped via USPS with tracking and insurance to cover the purchase price of your item(s). You will receive an email with tracking information once your order ships. Please allow about 5 business days for your order to arrive once shipped.

How do you protect your artwork during shipment?

I start by mounting the artwork in a mat. Artwork is attached to backing with a tape hinge, then the mount is attached with a tape hinge to the backing.

Then, I sign the artwork and slip it into a plastic casing for safety.

I then add cardboard for extra reinforcement, and wrap in paper before placing in the envelope for shipment.

Reinforced with cardboard and wrapped in paper — ready to go in the shipping envelope!

How do I protect my artwork from damage or fading?

Firstly, I use the most lightfast pencils available, which means the artwork I produce is highly resistant to fading due to light exposure. I do not spray fixative on my artwork as it can change the colors underneath. However, the best way to protect from smudges is to take the artwork out of the plastic just before popping it into the frame. Keeping it in plastic and the mount helps protect from smearing or damage until it can be framed.

Do you share your artwork on social media?

Yes, I typically share my current progress on artwork and commissions on social media. If you would not like your commissioned artwork shared until you receive it, or even not at all, please add a note during checkout to that effect.
